Bread Pudding with Butter Vanilla Sauce

Here’s another recipe recently made for us by our very own Wine Girl Kay. Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t come close to doing the Bread Pudding justice. There is no way to capture the melt-in-your-mouth buttery, nicely spiced deliciousness.

BREAD PUDDING

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cups day old white bread, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cup golden raisins
Directions

Combine eggs, sugars, vanilla and nutmeg.  Add melted butter, then cream, then mix well.  Stir in cubed bread and raisins.  Let stand for 10-15 minutes.  Pour into well-greased deep pan or casserole.  Bake at 375 degrees 45 to 60 minutes until golden brown.  Serve warm topped with butter vanilla sauce.  Serves 6-8.

3 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. melted butter
